No, not those furry, cloven-hoofed bastards with whom hipsters do yoga.
In the world of strength and conditioning, GOATS are limitations or things for which we are just downright not our best.
A GOAT is a weakness, usually due to movement restrictions or strength limitations.
GOATS are movements we often avoid practicing. They’ve even been known to keep some of us out of the gym on days when one of our GOATS pops up in the workout of the day.
Wobble and fall when attempting to do a single-legged squat? Pistols - that’s one of your GOATS.
Still struggling to pull your body weight over that pull-up bar on the rig or to lock out that first muscle up? Pull-ups or muscle ups are your GOAT(s).
Pretty much everything we do here in the gym is a GOAT for someone. Everyone - I mean absolutely everyone - from your brand new Crossfitters to your veteran competition athletes has GOATS.
So, you may ask, what are we all going to do to face our GOATS head on and annihilate them?
Welcome to GOATpocolypse 2018!!! *Insert epic 80’s-metal guitar intro.
Our team’s been working to figure out ways to ensure our athletes prioritize working on as many critical focus points as possible.
We’ll continue to work to help you do this collectively in classes.
Also, we can make this a much more individualized experience for each of you.
With that, we’re asking that you reach out to us and set up time outside of class to talk. It's challenging to uncover the exact route to success in the few moments a coach has between classes or standing in the lobby. We can listen and understand in those short periods of time, but a real goals development effort should start with a little bit of 1-1 time.
We’ll chat, take a look at your performance or barriers to performance, determine how your time can be best spent working on weaknesses and limitations, and execute the best plan to make sure your efforts SLAY...YOUR...GOATS!
Even if you’re not quite sure how to pinpoint your GOATS, let’s set up a time on the calendar to chat and see what we can find.
We’re here to help you meet your goals, slay your GOATS, and get you to the next level.
We all have GOATS.
