November 2017 Newsletter

November 15, 2017

Hi again, Crossfit Memphis peeps!

After a few months in transition mode, we’re coming back at you with a fresh newsletter through the new system we have developed. If you are still receiving emails from the old system as of this week, please let us know. Everything from here on out should have our stamp and style, and we want to make sure you aren't getting bombarded with unwanted emails or information.

Firstly, you guys have been wonderful as we have moved facilities. We will continue to have smaller unfinished projects that are coming nearer and nearer to their conclusions. We appreciate all the time, energy, and patience everyone has had through this period.

Soon, we’ll have a new sort of athlete spotlight series for you, so stay tuned for that. Also, keep an eye on social media for updates on holiday hours and details about the always highly anticipated holiday party.
For now, let’s dive into the pertinent November and December 2017 events and happenings.

12 Week Overhead Squat Challenge with Resident PT, Jason Ward

Hold onto your seats, athletes. We’ve got something super special in store for you.
On Saturday, December 2nd, our resident physical therapist (and a familiar face in the noon and 4 pm classes) begins his 12-week Overhead Squat Clinic.

We’re beyond excited about this clinic for several reasons:

1) Jason and your coaches have designed this 3-tiered clinic to ensure it’s as individualized as possible.
2) The work you’ll do as part of this clinic will not only translate into an improved OH squat; you’ll almost certainly see improvements in several other movements (the snatch and all overhead pressing work, just to name a couple of things).
3) We cannot wait to see how this positively impacts the work you do here in the gym.

We’re so excited for you to read more about the clinic and learn how to sign up. Just click the button below to sign up.

Level 1 Certification Course

Once again, we’re hosting the Level 1 Cert team right here at CrossFit Memphis on November 18th and 19th.It may be too late to register for this one, but we host these a few times a year. If you ever thought about coaching or just want to nerd out on CrossFit for a weekend, we recommend you consider signing up in the future.

It's a really cool opportunity to see how CrossFit was developed and what your coaches consider when they are training you.

Also, the gym will be closed that weekend. Stay tuned for information on alternative places to train.

CrossFit Liftoff Season!

The CrossFit Games is hosting its third annual weightlifting competition, CrossFit Liftoff.

In this short and sweet event series, you’ll complete the snatch, the clean and jerk, and one metcon – for a total consisting of those three scores. Both RX and Scaled divisions are available for your registration and competing convenience. The CrossFit Games is hosting its third annual weightlifting competition, CrossFit Liftoff.

This is the first time our gym’s participated in Liftoff, and we’d love to come out in full force.

We will be setting up specific times for people to get these workouts in so we can ensure everyone has judges and the people participating are able to crush the workouts with as much exuberance as they can muster!

So here’s how we make that happen. The series is held online (with the lifts and the workout conducted here in the gym) from November 30th – December 4th. And you can register for the crazy modest price of $10 online.

To learn more about Liftoff and to register - which we SO want you to do – go to the registration site here.

In the words of Coach Kurt, “this is gonna be toiiight!”
