Faction’s March AthleteS of the Month – Sara and Kyle Green

By: 0

What’s it they say, “The couple that slays training “seshes” together stays together?”

Whatever the case, the dynamic duo that is Sara and Kyle Green is making it work in a big way. Just over one year into their Faction journeys, they’re continuing to make YUGE progress! The sky appears to be the limit for these two.

These two lovebirds share more than a fever for Crossfit. They have an adorable son who is legit the spitting image of Kyle.

Read on to learn more about how the Green’s make it work! Congrats, Kyle and Sara!

Let’s start with Sara…

Name: Sara Green

Age: 26

Hometown: Syracuse, New York

Occupation: Photographer

Favorite WOD/metcon: “Annie”

Favorite lift: Clean

Favorite cheat meal: Tacos, margaritas, pizza, sushi, strawberry cupcakes from Frost Bakery…pretty much anything delicious. I’m a fat kid at heart!

Athletic background: Basketball and softball.

Hobbies/interests outside of the gym: Hanging with my family and friends, going on adventures, concerts (I love listening to live music).

How long have you been Crossfitting? A little over a year.

How long have you been at Faction S&C/Crossfit Memphis? A little over a year, Faction is my very first Crossfit experience.

How did you find Crossfit? Kyle wanted to join a Crossfit gym to work on his fitness and to get rid of his “dad bod.” He found Faction online and was impressed with everything it had to offer. Shortly after that, we did the Fundamental classtogether.

How has Crossfit changed your life? I am in the best shape of my adult life, not only physically but also mentally. It keeps me active, and I actually enjoy going to the gym now.

What is your biggest achievement so far, and what is your next big goal? My biggest achievements so far have been doing my first pull-up and getting double-unders. When I first started one year ago, I wasn’t even close to doing one pull-up. My next big goal is to nail down kipping pull-ups.

What is your favorite thing about Faction? The coaches, of course! They are so awesome, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Also, THE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING; my 9:30am’ers have become like family.

Have any advice for new members? Don’t be afraid or intimidated. I was nervous at first. But now I love it, and my day isn’t complete without it. Also, everyone starts somewhere, and most of us started right where you are. The coaches are here to help, so don’t be afraid to speak up and ask questions. I still ask questions every single class. Lastly, remember we are all in this together.

Is there anything you want to add? Tell us an interesting tidbit about you.

I studied film photography in college for 3 years. I know how to process, develop, and print from 35mm film to large format in the dark room. Film is a dying art. I hope to one day have my own darkroom at home.

On my application for my current job, which is extremely competitive to get into, I wrote under “qualifications,” “Can make minute rice in 59 seconds.”

They hired me.
